My anti-virus subscription is going to expire in a few months, and I was just wondering what the best Anti-Virus software is currently that you pay for?

Let me know the name of the company, product and why you like it, and why I should or shouldnt buy it.

http://defender-pro.com/

This is the best one i have ever had. It's not a memory hog like Norton 360. It has proactive defense that really works. You should buy it because all the others with the exception of Avira are no where close to as effective as defender pro. McAfee' Memory hog' low detection and protection. Norton' same as McAfee. Maybe a little worse. Norton after you install it you can't get rid of it. It acts like a Trojan. Norton' McAfee' Trojans disable them and walk right past them. Spy ware and Hackers can disable them. So far we don't have that problem with Defender Pro. Last but not least. Defender Pro is powered by Kaspersky. #1 in virus and spy ware protection.

If you are going to get a pay program, get the one that tests at the top of the charts at several different independent sites (independent in that they get no money or advertising dollars from any AV programs tested, so their tests and rankings can truly be independent and unbiased).... that is ESET Nod 32 ..... consistently rates as the #1 protector..... Kaspersky pay version is not far behind, but Nod32 always seems to be the #1 performer every 3 months the tests are run for rankings..........

When you want to best and most complete protection you should install an internet security program and not just an anti virus program.

I have tested several over the last 12 months.

Here is my top 3

3rd place Kaspersky Internet Security 2009

http://www.kaspersky.com/kaspersky_internet_security

2nd place Bitdefender Total Security 2009http://www.bitdefender.com/PRODUCT-2217-en--BitDefender-Internet-Security-2009.html

1st place ESET Smart Security http://www.eset.com/smartsecurity/

I purchased ESET and it is now protecting my computer.

As extra protection I advise you to install these 2 programs

Threatfire is an anti virus, that can be installed next to any other anti virus program on the same computer

This is a very good program, that completely runs in the background

Norton Anti-Virus 360, I did try a lot of them, this one by far is the best one.

You can get it on Ebay, or Wal Mart for like $60.00 - $70.00

I hope this will help,

A lot of people put Norton down (I think its because they didn't want to pay for it)

But I had positive results with Norton.

It automatically detected a virus when you were to download one by accident and such.

I use McAfee and have never had any problems with Viruses on my computer. It's widely used and has good support. Also I got it for 50% off at http://www.subscription.com/mcafee/ so good deal as well!

Avast and Free AVG are good free options, as well.
