getting rid of pop-ups?

My computer was acting strange. I found out I was running "Optimizer Pro", which I don't remember downloading.
I finally got it removed from my system by using Revo Uninstaller Pro.
Even getting rid of that, I am still getting constant pop-ups, and I can barely get through an order on Amazon, etc, because there are so many pop-ups! I can't keep up with deleting them fast enough to place an order. Thanks in advance for your help.

Follow Yessir's instructions, and look through your installed software by going to control panel and selecting uninstall a program. Optimizer Pro is a despicable type of 'leechware', it's as close to malware as you can get without being malware. When you install software you want, the installer gives you the option to 'install using recommended settings' and discourages other options. Accepting will install a bunch of crapware like optimizer pro, and declining will lead to numerous Accept buttons themed to look like the software you want but being more useless deals.

This is the adblock he was talking about.

Sort the installed programs by date and uninstall ANY software you don't recognize if it was installed after your PC was initialized (don't uninstall any drivers). Here is a list of software that might cause ads.

MyPC Backup

Search Protect (AKA Conduit Search)

Desktop Weather Alerts

Anything claiming to convert (Except VLC, and only if VLC was installed correctly).

Anything claiming to play video files (Once again, VLC and any other software YOU installed)

Anything claiming to download. Period.

Good luck removing your junk!

INTERNET USE:For chrome I recommend ad-block which is a AWESOME PROGRAM.

FOR YOUR OWN DESKTOP SCREEN: You might have installed a program that might have a ad built into it to pay for the owners expenses, so i recommend to flash back to the last thing you downloaded.

Are the pop-ups only happening when you are in browser? If so, you should probably delete all cookies and history, then download "Adblock." This should clear up the problem. Also, just to be sure, go to "change or remove a program" on your computer, and check to see if there are any unwanted or suspicious programs.

I also recommend that you do a full computer scan using a anti-virus program. Better safe than sorry.

Best of luck!

You still have adware. You need to use a few other programs. Adblock will not work. Use AdwCleaner and Junkware removal too. Then Malwarebytes Antimalware. Get AdwCleaner and Junkware Removal Tool from bleepingcomputer.com and Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org. All 3 are free and should remove your issues. Then use Adblock Plus or your windows host file to block ad's.

Amazon shouldn't have popups at all so something is going on from your end. If the popups are browser based then check your browser addons.

If the popups are pc based and are happening all the time (online and not) then you have a virus/malware. Make sure your anti-virus program is updated then run a boottime scan (I recommend avast for anti-virus). Then download and run malwarebytes.

if you still get popups after that, you will have to get a bit technical (nothing difficult), go to start

Also, firefox and chrome both have popup blocker addons which do wonders. A popup blocker + Adblock makes for a very clean browsing experience. If you're using internet explorer, they probably have something similar but I would strongly advice against using IE as it has huge security holes and is an overall horrible browser.
