hi i have a 2004 HP PC with Windows XP ive been receiving attacks saying that my computer is not protected and AV Security Suite keeps popping up..from numerous questions on yahoo answers, AV Security is a virus itself, which really suprised me. IE refuses me to go on the internet it says that im unprotected and it wont let me go onto websites..i have McAfee through AOL and it says that McAfee file has been infected, idk what to do, i using my laptop at the moment...

many answers on here said to restart and tap F8 in order to go onto "safe mode," if i do so, what do i do next? will AV Security Suite attack me while im on safe mode? will i be able to surf on internet explorer in order to remove AV? and if im on safe mode, should i uninstall McAfee (my AOL antivirus) and reinstall it again? im already use to having McAfee, i do not want a different type of antivirus software..please help me!!!

Well, after getting AV Security Suite myself about a week ago, and calling up my cousin from Geek Squad, and trying ALL (as in, EVERYTHING) of the suggestions those guys above have mentioned, I can guarantee that anything you try in safe mode won't work because, simply, AV Security Suite cannot be removed when Windows is active, it's just gonna make more copies of itself whenever you try to remove it. I have used Malwarebytes anti malware, CCleaner, and Avast! antivirus to try and remove AV Security Suite. I scanned by computer using all 3 of those programs while in safe mode. Nothing worked. Don't waste your time trying everything those other guys have said, I've tried it myself and nothing has worked. You can either go to a computer repair place and get it fixed (IE Geek Squad or whatever other stores have to offer), or you can try to find the rumored specific disk that will remove all of the files AV Security Suite made, it's floating around on the internet. My cousin says he has a copy himself and I'm planning on having him remove AV when I get down south to his house, using that disk, because he can't where I am now. Trust me, just take it to somewhere they can fix it, any suggestions you find on the internet will be either a) too complicated or b) not work. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but it's your best option unless you backup all your files, reformat the hard drive, use a system restore disk to put the operating system back on the hard drive, then restore all your backup files. Or you could send in the computer, if you still have a warranty.

3. When your computer manufacturing logo(like dell,HP,Toshiba,Sony etc.) goes away, repeatedly click f8 to get some options.

4. Click "safe mode with networking"

5.wait till your computer starts.

6.When it finished starting, go to your internet.

7. Go to http://www.google.com/

8. Search malwarebytes.

9. Go to their website, download the program

10. when it finished downloading, install the program.

11. When it finished installing, run the program.

12. Click Full Scan

13. Wait till it finished. It will take a while but it will remove it.

14 when finished, it gives you instructions on how to remove the threats.

15. When the threats are removed it will say it will need to restart. Do so.

YOUR COMPUTER IS BACK!

You can just go to Add or Remove programs under the Control Panel and uninstall from there. If after reinstalling Mcaffee it doesnt work, try other suites such as AVG and Avast anti virus. They are really quite good.
