if your online still go to the above sites if it won't let you get anywhere go to start > run > msconfig > startup and kill the AV then go to Task manager and kill the process itself unless its under a hidden name in which case restart the machine and hopfully its not smart enough to autoboot then just go to control panel and tick all programs box so all of them show up and try to uninstall it there.

AV hit my machine yesterday. I went through the internet directions (from another computer) on how to delete the executable files and registries, but I'm sure a file name is different than what is listed on internet help sites. AV came right back on after I thought I killed it. I think the one file that I missed triggered it's return. Finally, I decided to go to Accessories/System Tools/System Restore and restored my machine back 2 months since I don't have anything important on my machine. AV seems to be gone! I'm still going to get the malware program mentioned a few times in these answers.

Black Fire above is definately on track for a simple self-help removal if internet access is being a pain because AV is bollixing up the works for an alternate fix download.

A simple fix that I use was to boot the computer in safe mode, disconnected from the internet. I then did an uninstall as administrator (all users). If you have protective software (anti-virus, anti-mal ware etc... run it.) (If not, carry on)

Shut down and restart in your normal mode, and the problem should be gone.

If not restart in safe mode and do as Black Fire suggested. (Run, ms config, kill)

Spend a little dough on protective software, the 20 to thirty-five pucks a year is worth it.

The above advise is good, just use another computer and save the file(s) to a flash drive then install to the infected computer.
