The only way that I know of to get rid of it is to go into every e-mail and unsubscribe from their mailing list. Usually, you get on those website's mailing lists when you sign up for free offers, promotional things, or download something from a website where you have to give them you're e-mail.

To prevent junkmail and spam from interfering with my personal messages, I have two e-mails, one for families and friends and the other that I use to sign up for online programs and things.

I have had the same problem,i dont think we can do much except open them and scroll down to the end of the page and most of them have a unsubscribe me section.I have succesfully unsubscribed from lots, but some dont have that option.they get your email address from other companies as they all give out your address. If you download a free trial for instance, but decline to buy it,i think they expose you to others, just to annoy you. This unfortunately doesnt just happen on the internet,I get them all the time on the phone at home.

99% of spam drop in our inbox because we have published our email as an active link in web pages at some point of time.

safest way to publish like- myemail at example dot com.

But after you already reserved your seat in spamers database best way is to plan and change you email in phase manner.

1) Create new email, replace old email id with new email id from all important websites account information from where you want to receive emails, similarly inform your friends and family.

2) Don’t provide your email information to substandard website.

3) Most important don’t publish new email as active email link in web pages /website any more.

4) This migration will take at least 1 year, don’t discontinue your old email suddenly, because you may have skipped to update information to friends or website which contacts once in a year or on particular event, so on such case you will still have chance to update your email information to those contacts.

Skittles has it right. Use the one on your ISP only for friends and family, make a free one from Yahoo or Hotmail and use that one for signing up for stuff.

Unfortunately, once you start getting it, there is no way to stop it other than to change your email address.

Check to see if you have a Spam filter and it is on.

You have to help it identify spam at first so it knows what to look for. But anymore, spammers are getting better at disguising their crap so it still gets thru. If it is so uncontrolable, get a new e-mail address and start over.
