I have 1TB external HDD, and i want to set a password so everybody who tries to access it, it will requier them to enter a password in order to access the HDD ..

Dont tell me about encryption, i dont like this way, because it takes a long time and its not what i am looking for, what i want is just a password like the one you use to access your phone, PC, ....etc.

My HDD is ADATA HD710
and it does not have built in software so i am looking for an alternative software, however i just want it a password far a way from full access..

Encryption is the only way unless you just lock access for everyone on the entire system while the external drive is attached to a computer. The difference between a phone being locked and a portable hard drive being locked is that the phone is locking the entire operating system down until that password is correctly input. A portable hard drive contains no operating system for access and your only option for protection is encryption really.

1. non-encryption based device passwords (that dont use network based accounts and group policy) are basically useless as you can still access all the data on the device

2. i have a 3 TB drive that was encrypted in about 30 seconds (just use veracrypt and select quick format)

3. putting a password on a drive with no encryption is about the same as putting a lock on a gate, its VERY easily bypassed

You could protect the files in it by placing a password and do install Leo Privacy Guard in order to gain utmost security in your android mobile.

Use a program called Folder Lock.
