Does my computer have trojan issues or is my computer playing with my head?

I have windows Vista on my laptop, and a couple of days ago, the Symantec Antivirus Detection popped up, and basically non stop ive when ive been on the computer there are trojan horse entries.Every couple of seconds usually of every minute. Now, usually id be scared, but the thing is, these files are only coming from two sources, the first:

C/windows/TEMP/_avast_

and the second

C:/ProgramData/Symantec/Srtsp/Quarantine

These are the only two places they ever come from.
Heres the weird part, ive run a FULL scan in avast, and a quick scan in symantec, but there were no infected files and my system was said to be fully secure.
But then, my computer has started to run slowly, crash more and malwarbytes wont open.

I am seriously confused.

I have also searched around have found that the files are all .tmp files (preceded with a letter number combination such as unp44533254.tmp. I have seen someone say that these are called false positives, and are nothing to worry about. Then why is my computer performance degraded and how do i fix it?

Thanks for your patience, first answer to address this issue gets best answer guaranteed.

Ok, this is not fun. What you probably got is what's known as the hocus virus. It makes a warning trojan pop up about as fast as you can exit them. what it did was corrupt your anti virus so that it won't find or stop any viruses. It actually makes all you malware/ virus programs jacked up. Now for the fun part, on a computer that's not infected, go to cnet.com click on downloads for windows, and download these programs onto a flash drive or some kind of external storage. Spybot search and destroy, Malwarebytes, and the anti virus you prefer my suggestion is AVG or AVAST and definetly not Norten or Mcafee.

K, now turn your computer on and as soon as you hear it start up start rapidly tapping F8. If it starts to load windows u screwed up. It will come up with a screen thats mostly black that asks you how you want to start window. One will say Safe Mode with networking. Highlight it with arrow keys and hit enter. It will start running scripts so don't freak out. A pop up will ask if you ment to start windows in safe mode and click continue or ok or whatever it is. You will notice that everything looks huge and jacked up. This is normal. Now go to start, control panel, and there will be a place that lets you uninstall programs. Uninstall all anti virus/malware programs. Once done it may tell you to restart computer. Do so but go back into safe mode with networking. Now install Spybot and get all updates. The update box will ask where to download from, just click on any that say USA at the end. After updating, it will reload Spybot, once it does, click immunize. It will scan, showing you how many files are unprotected. Click immunize button and it will make change to zero. Run the search and destroy. After its done, click fix problems. Once done, install and run malwarebytes, and after that install anti virus. Restart computer and presto problem gone. Also recommend installing CCleaner. Hope this helps.

Why don't you try a System Restore back before the problems occured.

I dumped Norton and went with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malaware

Anti-Malaware (both are free); I never have any problems now with either of

my computers (one is Vista, the other Windows 7.)

Wow, feels like a butt load of issues right here. It's form of tough to let you know precisely what to do, considering that me on this given quandary might do exactly the entire "trial and blunder" system. Start off via looking to down load Malware bytes anti-malware, confidently you'll down load and set up this no crisis. Do a whole laptop experiment with this application. After the experiment, permit it put off all threats. If whatever stays, like your anti-anti-virus, there's a software with malwarebytes referred to as "dossier murderer" so that it will entirely do away with something you inform it to. However, it's REALLY convenient to delete some thing predominant and by no means get it again, so ensure that what you're deleting is certainly what you wish deleted! If you can't down load malwarebytes, check out booting your laptop in trustworthy mode (f8 on the begin of boot up, I feel) and check out to run your antivirus then and do a experiment. If this works, get your self AVG loose, so that it will allow you to understand if a internet site is trustworthy to visit or no longer, and while you get your firefox again, ensure to down load internet of believe (WOT) so that it will aid let you know what web pages will also be relied on or distrusted and why. Also, when you get your issues looked after out, you rather will have to make seperate person profiles for your laptop, so no one can mess along with your documents, and your brother will get a restrained profile so he stops being a whole fool and screwing up the laptop.
