No, not directly;  but what you download with it might.  Make sure you know what you are downloading.

Limewire shares files from other users. There are viruses specifically designed to take advantage of that fact. If you download a file via Limewire then yes there is a distinct possibility you can get a virus. You can protect your computer but you can't be assured that other people on Limewire are protecting theirs.

Only if you download the wrong "Songs".

Tips for staying virus free on LimeWire:

Only download songs with a displayed bitrate.

Let's say you type in "madonna hung up" and you get a result that just says "madonna hung up" (no capitalization, just the exact words you typed in), then it's a virus. A real song would say "Hung Up - Madonna"

The size of the file should be the right size for a song, about 4-5 megabytes for an average song length.

To test whether a file is a song or a virus, double click the song while it's still downloading (20% downloaded) and see if it plays a sample of what it's already downloaded. If you hear nothing, it's a virus. If you hear the song, it's a song.

NEVER EVER download a .EXE or .exe file type! That's the big warning sign that in other words says .VIRUS or .virus.

Limewire itself will not give you a virus, However Limewire is very good at downloading all types of virus's and spyware with the music it downloads.

Anything you download with limewire should be scanned before opening it.

Right click on the files you download and select scan with xxxx your anti virus program.

Make sure you keep your anti virus program up to date.

Yo brit, what goes down is if u search a file, lets say for arguments sake u search :drop the world - lil wayne", somebody with that file on their computer that has limewire will get that result shown, if its on their computer, limewire shows it so u can download it, if they have a fle thats infected with a trojan horse, spyware, virus, cookies, etc. ull get them too, i reccomend not using limewire because its a federal crime to download certain things, like music

Limewire IS a computer virus. I can guarantee you that your computer will catch a virus in 20 mins or less after installing that crapware, you don't even have to download anything and your antivirus won't detect any virus, it just leaves your computer open to hackers TRUST ME.

you will no longer have a wager of having a pandemic on limewire while you at the instant are not downloading some thing. now and back different data which you acquire on limewire has viruses linked on them. purely setting up an antivirus and you would be risk-free.
