Basically, I have someone deleting files on my computer without my permission, and I don't like it. I've managed to find and restore all of my files, however it seems this person is deleting, in particular, songs and videos that they don't like. This is MY computer, which I share with other people because I'm nice, but I don't like this invasion of privacy. How can I make it so that no files on my computer can be deleted without a specific password, and is it possible to lock the recycling bin so that people can't clean it out in case they manage to delete a file?

Stop sharing the computer. As long as you allow others to have access to the computer and allow them to log on, you will be vulnerable to the person who is deleting your files.

I don't know whether it is possible to use an administrator restriction to prevent someone from deleting the files. That's not really the point. The point is that the person who is deleting your files has no respect for you or your property. That kind of person can do other things. If you restrict deletions, the person will probably take that as a challenge and do other things to interfere with your rights concerning the computer. Such as hack past or keylog past your restrictions and then (a) delete everything, (b) demote you from administrator and restrict your access, (c) install a virus, (d) install contraband, (e) change all your passwords, (f) whatever.

You should password protect the initial log-in so that nobody but you can use the computer in any way. Then when someone ask you if they can use it, you just say: "No, I don't allow anyone to use my computer any more, sorry." And don't explain in detail because that is an endless argument about "It wasn't me," and you will eventually give in.

First you should make your log in thing a password so nobody can come in. Then to make sure your files aren't deleted you should Hide them.
