Hi , i read from the web , wireless mac filter could be set to allow certain or deny certain computer .

I also read that a hacker could just spoof their mac and enter your network and it's a quite futile attempt to do mac filtering

my question is , if assuming only i know my mac address , lets say the whole wireless network is only used by me . is there anyway a hacker could get my mac address through whatever means ?

cause i have seen people brave enough not to even set any encryption but solely just mac filtering in their personal wireless network.

so i am wondering about this issue , can anyone further explain to me ?

Yes, even when MAC address filtering is enabled, hackers can still find your MAC address and then spoof/forge/clone it, so it's not worth using MAC address filtering as a security option.

The option of hiding the SSID can also be bypassed by hackers, so it's not worth using this option either.

To make your wireless network secure and prevent hackers from potentially gaining access to all PCs/laptops connected to your wireless router, you must configure your wireless router to use either WPA2 or WPA, and set a long complex Pre-Shared Key/PSK/passphrase. Any wireless router not configured like this can be hacked! And any wireless router configured with only MAC address filtering and no encryption will make it incredibly easy for hackers to capture the wireless transmissions and see all the data, including any personal info like credit card numbers used for online shopping!

The AP would have been reset to production unit defaults that would recommend that internet get admission to from the instant connection has been disabled. if so, in simple terms re-enable and it would paintings. Bert
