I would not recommend a restore, since there isn't one quick fix that I can state here what I would do is go to a reputable online computer help site that will be able to help you with this.

Try this forum, they are very helpful

Register at the site, go to the Security forum and read the

Warm some water in a glass. Add one tablespoon of honey and sprinkle some Cinnamon in. Mix well and just SIP a little at a time until the whole glass is done. You will notice relief shortly after.

Your computer has a Smitfraud infection.

The standard tool to remove this pest is SmitfraudFix. The full removal procedure and the free removal tool is here:

http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix_En.php

Almost all "general purpose","all-in one" spyware and virus removal programs such as AVG, Norton, or Spybot S & D cannot remove it.

Good luck.

Sounds like you were hit with a rogue "anti-spyware" scam. They install spyware onto your computer then try to con you into buying their software to remove it. Whatever you do do not pay them anything. Try these programs.

These are a few FREE programs (which I personally use), which work great together to check whether your computer is infected, if anything is found they will remove the problem files. Make sure to disable your own Anti-virus before installing a new one because it may cause a conflict.

Download the following:

Spybot: Search & Destroy - Application to scan for spyware, adware, hijackers and other malicious software. Make sure to download all of the newest updates before scanning.

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

Windows Defender - Windows Defender is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. Make sure to download all of the newest updates before scanning.

A Free online Scan you can perform is at Trend Micro’s website. They have an online scanner that works through your internet browser to detect viruses and malware on your computer. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

AVG Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware Free Edition -http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/

Make sure to disable your own Anti-virus before installing a new one because it may cause a conflict. Make sure to download all of the newest updates before scanning.

To prevent future problems download SpywareBlaster and PC Tools Firewall Plus. Update them both and make sure to enable all protection.

You were infected with a spyware/browser-hijacker program. Have you tried going to Start-Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs and seeing if it is listed? If it is, try uninstalling it. If it will uninstall, you can reset your home page. You definitely need more security on your computer. I use Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite ($50)--it has firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware. And I also use Ad-Aware (free), Spyware Blaster (free) and Spybot Search and Destroy (free). I keep all of them updated and I run frequent scans (every few days); I don't get viruses and I get very little spyware which are removed after the scans. Google search the free programs and install them. Try uninstalling the Security Toolbar 7.1 with Add/Remove Programs then run scans with all of the Antispyware programs you have installed. That SHOULD get rid of it and you can reset your home page. You might want to invest in the paid version of Ad-Aware 2007 ($30, I think) which includes real-time protection (monitors to prevent this type of garbage from being installed on your computer without your permission). Some of this stuff is difficult to get rid of; good luck.

P.S. the link below will take you to a respected free antivirus program.

I do three things whenever my PC gets infected with unwanted toolbars, pop-ups, or if my home page gets hijacked. I run Lavasoft's Ad-Aware first, Spybot Search and Destroy second, and CWSHREDDER third. Ad-Aware and Spybot both help to rid your system of Spyware and CWShredder will help you regain control of your home page. All three programs are free downloads off the web and can easily be found by doing a Google Search.

A couple other things to try is to right click on the "Security Toolbar" itself or look for a tiny "down arrow" on it and see if a drop down menu is available with an option to uninstall the toolbar. If there isn't one you can look in "Add Remove Programs" in control panel to see if there is an option there for removing the tool bar.

Good luck,

It sounds to me like your browser has been hijacked by some spyware. You're best bet would probably be to download and install a program like Spybot or Ad Aware (both are free programs), run the update to make sure you have all the spyware definitions, then follow the program's directions on scanning your computer and removing the threats (each program is different so I can't really give you a step by step). I'd also recommend getting a firewall program that might help prevent future browser hijacks as well.

sounds like spyware, virus, etc. If your home page changes you got a prob!. If possible easiest thing for me when that happens is to wipe it and fresh reinstall. Or run some antivirus and spyware program or programs and see what they come up with. I stay away from toolbars myself.
