Question:
Norton safety rating icons have disappeared. Please help!?
2012-06-27 05:38:33 UTC
For about three days now, I have noticed that the Norton safety rating icons for the search results in the search web page have not displayed properly as they had previously. The Norton toolbar works as it should, but it's the icons indicating the safety of each individual website on the search results I can't get to appear no matter what I use; Yahoo, Google or Bing. I have already checked my settings and the safe web option is enabled. I have also cleared my history, cookies, cache, etc. and restarted my computer as well as refreshed the search results page several times. This issue seems to have started when my computer automatically upgraded to Firefox 13.0.1. a couple days ago. Before then, everything was working smoothly. Please help me, as the icons give me some piece of mind whenever I surf the net. Thanks in advance :)

And, please don't ask me to download another antivirus program, as I still have 126 days left of my paid subscription with Norton and up until recently, things were just fine.

you paid for Norton...

even though it's completely your call, i highly advise not to pay for it again in the future.

Norton does not protect your computer fully. Norton brags about itself that it's great when my system went to hell when i got infected with a simple virus that could have been easily removed (resource hogged my computer and burned out my graphics card and motherboard...)

first, like always, e-mail support and tell them of your issue. if you don't get it fixed in the allotted time, maybe their not-so-decent live support may help.

check for any updates Norton may have, that may solve the issue (plus you also stated that you updated your Firefox browser. keep in mind that Norton has to catch up with the newer builds or their plug-in/toolbar will end up not being compatible)

look online to see if someone else is having the same problem (forums are where most of them are posted)

that's all i got. i don't use Norton anymore after a very fateful incident

i now use AVAST! anti-virus and Malware bytes to scan my computer just in-case avast didn't pick up anything (which is not a problem because AVAST picks up mostly everything on my computer, even websites that try to harm your computer as well, oh there's also website ratings that it gives you as-well. if you get avast, that's something to count for).

Just fixed my problem. I was running IE8 64-bit (Just upgraded to a 64-bit PC). Neither the Norton Toolbar nor the site safety icons work in IE8 64-bit. I clicked the Start Icon, All Programs, right-clicked the Internet Explorer that ISN'T 64-bit and pinned it to my task bar. I then unpinned IE-64-bit from my task bar. Using 32-bit IE8, the Norton site icons and toolbar work fine. Then I disabled the Norton toolbar because I hate extra junk on my screen.

If you're using IE 8 or 9, 64-bit, change to the 32-bit version. And call Norton and ask why they don't work with 64-bit browsers.

I hope they don't take them all out. Not everyone has or wants a cell phone. If I am out and about and need to make a call I want a pay phone. I will only get a cell as a last resort. I just got off a cruise with a woman that worn hers on her wrist. She never took it off. She wasn't worried about anyone at home so it wasn't really for an emergency. Besides, what could she do anyway. She's in the middle of the ocean!! Ridicules!!!!!!!!!
