I already have Norton and Ascentive, and now I keep getting pop-ups interrupting my pc every 2-5 minutes from Internet Explorer telling me that I have serious problems, and it will cost me $80 for a one time cost to fix it,the pop-up says,System Security Firewall Alert, and that I have 38 viruses...if that`s so,why wouldn`t my other two programs that I`ve spent over $300 on pick them up when I scan?..is this a la-git deal or just another scam??

First of all, Do not listen to these pop up ads. Never click them of course.

I have a program called WOT. It tells me if programs and websites are legit. when I went to the Ascentive website it alerted me of threats all over the page!

I will try to help you get rid of it.

I have had had my share of virus infections! If anything good came out of it.. it is that now, I know how to get rid of them (most of the time)

Sometimes you can get rid of the infections without taking drastic actions. First I recommend trying this.

1. Turn off your computer, Reboot

2. When you see the computer logo screen (Dell, gateway...) hit F8 several times.

3. Select "SAFE MODE"

4. When your logged in, open system restore and attempt to restore to an earlier time.

ALSO. You can do an online scan for free on many websites and if it finds a problem it will try to delete it. I recommend Trend Micro HOUSECALL.

☆ WEBSITE = http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

However, more times than not infections make it literally impossible to delete them. If this is the case you will need to reformat your computer and reinstall windows. If you are not sure how to do this you can visit these sites which have tutorials to show you how.

☆ VISTA = http://www.buildeasypc.com/sw/windows_vista/install_windows_vista.htm

☆ XP = http://www.buildeasypc.com/sw/windows_xp.htm

** of course this will delete all files, and documents so if you can .. try to back them up before continuing.

When you get back to normal, make it your first priority to get a decent security program. If you want some recommendations, let me know.

☆Good Luck. I hope my answer was helpful. If you need anymore help or have anymore questions feel free to EMAIL me. You can do so by clicking "Email Eric" on my profile page.

It is just an advertisement. They don't actually scan your computer or anything, it is just an attempt to scare people into buying their product. Poor business ethics like most online advertisers.

I would recommend using Firefox instead of internet explorer. You will end up with a lot less pop ups and spyware.

Also, paying for virus scanners and the like is almost a waste these days. You can get a very reliable free ones. Such as AVG.

Red sheild appeared on the bottom right of my screen in the tool bar - this is Trojan infection most likely Trojan Zlob.

Trojan Zlob Shows fake security alerts in your task bar and fake security toolbar in your browser.

You are infected. These alerts wants you to download and buy rogue anti-spyware programs. Or it cam install automatically, without your permission, one of these software.

It sounds like you have some kind of spyware posing as an anti-virus program. Get AVG, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot (Google em), run them, and your problem will be solved.
