Question:
Email Security - Fax vs Email?

What's the best way to securely email paper files? Is it easier for email-to-email files to be intercepted? Would faxing the files, and bypassing my part of SENDING the email, so that it goes directly to the persons email address, safer? Or is there no difference?

I tried to password-protect the .rar and send it via Hotmail, but Hotmail needs to scan the files for viruses and won't let you send the rar if it has a password on it.

Any helpful advice?

p.s. I'm dealing with my dads personal information here, and wanted to upload via Sendspace, but figured that might get downloaded and hacked by someone, too.

It is the same, if the line is corrupted, it is the same if you email or fax. Just use one of free file sharing services, as 4shared.com, or megaupload or rapidshare with RAR and password. Send password separately (e.g. by phone).

Hi, I think you may find some fax software which has the "Fax to Email" function, and also automatically route the fax to the specified user. I used joy fax before, and maybe you can have a try. Also, you can find lots of other fax software by google.

Whenever bank needs your attention, they'll call you or send a snail-mail letter. My banks also uses internal messaging service which delivers to my account inbox, but it has nothing to do with emails. You may get similar scams "on behalf of" ebay, bank of America, paypal, Microsoft and other reputable institutions. I tend to report such.
