What is the best non-free anti-virus/firewall/everything else out there?

Question

So my dad is getting paranoid about viruses and hackers and such, and he doesn't trust the already well-known free anti-virus and firewalls, i.e: AVG, Avast, and Comodo which I am using.

Do any of you guys know a program that's good and could incorporate as much computer protection as possible? I know that Comodo has a pretty good with anti-virus and firewall, but are there any others out there that are worthy to buy and also include extra features that could make my computer extra safe? Or maybe the ones that are already free but upgradeable.

Right now the best AV you will get is Kaspersky internet security. I guess you noticed that even though you said the best people still try to push free on you. Don't pay any attention to them. They have no idea what there talking about. A free AV can never hold a candle to a good paid AV like Kaspersky. Even Norton or McAfee aren't even in the same league as Kaspersky. Kaspersky has a learning curve. It's not like these free "kids" AV's you see pushed on here all the time. This is a AV for the the big boys and girls. It works and does exactly what it says it will do.



A few things you need to know about Kaspersky. It works best on a clean computer. So if your computer is new and never been on the internet it works great. If it has and you been using some inferior free AV then you might consider reformatting/reloading your OS just to make sure it's clean and virus/bug of any kind free. Just make sure that the computer is clean and bug free even if you don't reload the OS. Make sure all traces of your old AV are cleaned off/gotten rid of. Kaspersky with XP requires at least one gig of free memory. If you have Vista or Windows7 then you will need 2 gigs of memory. Kaspersky will not slow your machine down. Kaspersky works best on newer machines. 2003 up. It can be used on windows 2000 as long as you have enough memory and processor speed.

free? usually you gotta pay for the best shyt out there... try eset.com, theres a 30 day trial so try it out, i use it when someone ruins my pc. but its always fun trying to fix windows... thats the only one i can recommend, since you need a free/ but upgradeable software.....
