I personally use Microsoft Security Essentials because it’s light, fast, and gives the least false-positives then other antivirus applications.

Remember to only download software from websites you trust and never click or open an e-mail attachment you received from people whom you don’t know; although having a great antivirus installed is a helpful way in preventing your system from being compromised you should always practice good judgment as these antivirus applications are just helpful preventative tools and never full proof.

Avast and AVG is to best free anti virus updater. I am not just saying it for experience, I am saying that because I read it in several places already and my professor told me that aswell.

would recomend Avast, personally had come across lots of anti virus. not all anti virus even paid ones are 100% effective...some safe computing and common sense do go along way.

dont forget the spyware and trojans taht wiil do equal harm and on the silent mode!

go for internet security and frewall too!

I've used AVG for a good 5 years now and it hasn't let me down. I also use AVAST on one of my laptops and it works great as well. Can't speak for the others you mentioned though. A site that will help you is CNET.com. They allow both their editors and the public to rate all these types of products so you can get a feel for what is the best.

Just personal opinion of course. I use Avast , I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly.

This is the link where I've downloaded Avira for free http://bitly.com/1p33RVF

I heard many different opinions about the best anti-virus available on the market. I always used Avira antivirus and works very perfectly!

The last version realised have a lot of new function and give a full protection of the computer!

avast 5.high detection rate,no false positives and consumes less system resources.and avast boot time scan is a powerful tool to get rid of virus.and new avast comes with many other great features.

but i would recommend the paid version over the free one if you surf the internet on your computer

i used avg for a while until they began their absurd licensing policy. then i used avast, and it's pretty good. now i prefer avira antivirus because it detects the most legitimate problems and otherwise behaves well. that's my two cents.
