Question:
Security and logging (https)?

While logging on my Facebook, I noticed that login page is just HTTP.
Tried in Firefox, Chrome and OPera.

Once I get in, I noticed that connection with Facebook becomes encrypted, and I get a green padlock (or similar stuff) in the address bar.

When using my Yahoo mail, I never see encryption. Why?
What does this mean? That all log-on information is not send via secure connection?
Is Yahoo mail secure?

Yahoo only has https on the login page. Once you're logged in, nothing is https. Why, because Yahoo is behind on that.

Use the extension "HTTPS Everywhere" by EFF, and then you'll be using the https version of sites wherever possible.

Hello,

there are two things...

First, when you login into pretty much any mail, you'll always see Https, which means that while you send your login id and password, the transmission will be secure.

Second, most of time and with most services, after authentication is complete and you are loged, http is shown, which means that the rest of communication is not secure. With some providers such as gmail you can change that in configurations...

Important to know, that even if your connection is HTTPS, its doesnt mean that your email is not send in plain text. Yes it is. the only thing that https means is that the connection between your computer and the server is secure. the rest is in clear....for example between the server and the person you sent it. There is also always a copy of your email on the server (in clear) .

HTTPS ans secured email are two completely different things.

good luck

your facebook login is likely set to secure browsing, however you dont need to worry because anything that you have to log into with a username and password and they make alot of money chances are they are secure as well

Yahoo mail is secure. Your mail is not sent as plain text. Don't worry.
