AVG scanning came out with these results. My IE home page automatically comes up with the addresss: thecoolpic.com and the yahoo messenger with the status of "the war in Iraq..." instead of available, or invisible. Please help me how to get rid of these, having nightmares trying to sort out the problem.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

You know, that sounds like a spyware issue. You should try running spybot search and destory from download.com completly free and effective. As always, I do cleanups all the time, best thing you can do is just save everything and reformat the computer and then do the windows updates when your done. Its very simple and save you on all the extra hassle, you should always have your stuff backed up anyways and it takes about 2 hours to do the reformat. Just pop in the reinstall disk and go. If your a bit more tech savvy, you can go to start, run, type msconfig, and under the startup tab you should be able to uncheck alot things, viruses like to store themselves in there.

your internet explorer has the cool web virus

B] To stop the vbs virus you need to disable scripting which does not have any use on your computer anyways .

# Download Noscript.exe to a folder on the hard disk.

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/noscript.exe

# Double-click the Noscript.exe icon. The Norton Script

Disabler/Enabler appears.

* If the WSH is currently enabled on the system, you will be

prompted as to whether you want to disable it. To do so, click Disable, and

then click OK.

Then to get rid of the cool web virus and other spyware on your computer

Get firfox and do a windows update then Run the vundo and combo fix, spybot and superantispyware, a free online virus scan, free clean up tools

Well, run your virus scanner and try to "Repair" the files. If you can't repair them then you will have to delete both of them including your svchost32.exe file. If you have to delete svchost32.exe then you will have to restore it form your Windows CD.

BUT!!!

If you are using Windows Me/2000/XP/Vista then you are in luck my friend! Because you can use "System Restore" to revert your computer back to when you didn't have this virus.

Open your start menu and go to Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->System Restore. From here just choose the option "Restore My Computer To An Earlier Time" and choose next. From there choose a date on the calander before you got the virus and hit Restore. WARNING: everything you have put on your computer since the date you choose will be LOST. So any work you have changed or any important files you don't want to loose, copy them to the "My Documents" folder so they won't be lost in the restore. Just to be safe backup everything to a CD as well.

Good Luck!
