Today I had a message come up on my laptop today saying it was from INTERPOL. It said that all my files were incrypted and I was being recorded and they had my IP address.

I didn't read it all because I panicked as I have never looked at anything illegal. I remember seeing a picture of a lady at the top and also something about ukash was mentioned.

I switched off my laptop and rebooted it and the message has gone, this now has me worried and freaked out, I don't know if it is real or not or if it is a virus.

I mean would the INTERPOL mention ukash? and it also said to stay on the page or to leave the page. I clicked leave the page but it wouldn't let me, they only way it went was by restarting my computer. The message hasn't appeared back, but I don't know what to do. Is this one real? or a virus?

its a scam called Cryptolocker, its a new type getting more popular, by the day you havent done anything wrong but i would recommend checking your computer for adware as that can help egg on the cryptolock. normally they would lock all your files on your computer and you have 2 days to pay them around £200 via ukash or western union ( non traceable) or so otherwise you lose all your files and attachable files if you had a usb etc attached

Probably a fake message. If you haven't done anything just relax. The way how they give the message isn't that. Why should interpol send you a message to let you know that they are recording you ? Its probably a fake message!

There's a nasty virus that does that. Get every free anti adware and anti virus you can and start scanning. Do more than one scan and use different programs to scan. Check for rootkits.
