I have Windows XP and I wanna know how to make some folders invisible to other users. I am the administrator and my file systems are all NTFS. I'm not able to check the "Make folder private" bbutton. How do I do this? Also I wanna know how to stop other users from accessing specific programs.

Try right clicking the properties of the folder and select the Hidden check box. So long as you don't have "show hidden Files or folders" selected in your folder options it should be invisible. Also you could always adjust the sharing permissions of that folder to be only you...

You may not select the "make folder private" if:

1) it's not NTFS, which you said it is, so skip...

or

2) The folder is not in your user profile (ie, C:\Documents and Settings\Your_User_name\private_folder\ ).

The Make this folder private option is available only for files in your user profile (the My Documents folder and its subfolders, and the Cookies, Desktop, Start Menu, or Favorites folders).

To resolve this simply move it to your My Documents, My Music, or My Pictures folder and then select the Make this folder private option

Good luck.

whether somebody has abode windows, the folder could in simple terms be hidden if somebody makes use of the default putting to conceal hidden data. I continually have my desktops set to coach hidden data and to no longer conceal filename extensions, using fact that could make some issues extra troublesome than exhibiting all data and extensions. very almost any OS might desire to be waiting to envision fat or FAT32 because's so known for flash reminiscence in cameras, telephones, and different contraptions. So in simple terms hiding a folder could in simple terms conceal it from somebody completely clueless approximately desktops (one ordinary step from no secure practices in any respect).
