I bought the new LG Venice from Boost Mobile. When I try to connect wifi it says Authentication problem. I can't figure out what is wrong. What should the settings be set as if I'm trying to connect to a home router (Linksys 1200).

One possibility is that if your SSID (Service Set IDentification - network name) is hidden. If you know how to get to your Linksys configuration pages see if "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked on. Here's one of many online discussions about this problem:

Not all Android devices have this problem apparently, but enough do that if you search the title to your question above you'll get many returns talking about it. Hiding the SSID is often seen as a security measure (if your devices can't see your network or log on, neither can would-be poachers), but if you're using good encryption (WPA2 is currently preferred) you will not likely have issues, and your phone will be able to access wifi.

Other possibilities include a Mac address filtering problem, or you may need to add your new device's Mac address manually. Also some have had success choosing Forget network, then attempting re-connection, but I would have thought you'd have already tried that... Good Luck!
