Microsoft Security Essentials slow scan time?

Hello,

Yesterday I had installed MSE. I updated it, which took awhile, and then I tried a full scan.

It started at 4:13 AM and is still going. It's been over eight hours since I started the scan, and it's only in Program Files. It's not my computer, because avast! only takes five and a half hours WITH an external, with heuristics on, and thorough scan enabled.

Is this normal for a first time scan, or anytime I run a full scan?

That seems a little long, but, it will scan every file. You may have issues on scans if you have another antivirus installed and enabled. If you only have the MSE installed and enabled, then if it takes that long it means that computer has a large amount of files. I would use Ccleaner and wipe the free space, then defrag the drives, then run a scan with MSE for fastest scan times.
