Question:
Should I Renew My Norton Anti-virus Subscription?
?

I've had my laptop for almost a year now and the 'Geek-Squad' installed my Norton Anti-Virus software. Since my year is almost up, a notice keeps coming up for me to renew it's subscription.

I have no clue whether it's necessary. a scam or if the software will continue working even if I don't.
What should I do?

Norton's a good program and offers first class protection. The free programs like Avast are also top-notch and unlike most people who answer her I'm current on results from all the independent testing labs.It runs light and works great.I like Norton Internet Security it covers all areas. So to answer you question should you renew through Norton,I would not.I buy Norton online and then enter the key. This way I save money.Norton antivirus cost around $15 to $20 at amazon. $18 at discount mountain software. I haven't paid for Norton in two years buying at newegg when there's a rebate. But right now there isn't one.

Some form of protection is ABSOLUTELY necessary. I have used Norton for about 3 years so far - on 3 machines in total & it works well. The software does not catch all malware - I had a problem that it not only doesn't resolve, it doesn't detect it, because of how the malware works. But I have no reason to believe other software will catch it either.

If you want to keep using the software, without a subscription, you will not get updates for the latest threats - which are generally the greatest threat.

If you can afford it & just want to know if it's a scam - no it's not. It's a good product & I feel is worth the money.

Hello Johnny,

Sorry for the trouble. I am Vineeth and I am from the Norton Support team.

Please open the Norton product. At the bottom of the Norton product window, you can see the number of days remaining in your subscription. Does it show that the product is expired?

Thanks!

Vineeth

well , security is always necessary of course... but as for NORTON... in my opinion it's bloated , invasive resource hog that isn't very good at it's job.

Paid for recommendation - WEBROOT

free - Microsoft security essentials.

God no, what a load of tosh that program is. Just get something free like Avast.

Hmm... if you want better protection, you should renew it but there are always free options out there.

I would go with Kaspersky lab
