I have just installed an upgrade version of Norton Internet Security 2006 (been using it for the past 3 years). The pop-up ads have stopped. But can't seem to change the homepage to my own. It always goes back to "www.syssecuritysite.net"

And whenever I tried to access some websites, this page appears http://www.error404site.net/ with message at the top of the page "The page you are looking for is probably blocked my adware/spyware on your PC. Remove it with System Doctor. Click here."

Anyone please help.

seems that you have some malicious software installed when you install the norton. just get some tools to scan your computer and delete the bad programme.then you can try to use spyware blaster to change your homepage back if you use either IE or firefox.

This does sound like spyware! Download, install, update and run the following programs (they are free) -

SpyBot Search & Destroy

AdAware

Windows Defender

- all three can be found here http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/tools_anti_virus.html

Boot into Safe Mode (learn how here - http://www.vermontpcsolutions.com/how_to_start_in_safe_mode.html)

and run the applications. One of these should be able to dig out the malware.

hi, there is a virus that hack your IE homepage. i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

SystemDoctor is rogue registry cleaner. It is designed to "fix errors" that cause PC instability and lag. However, the developers of this program have a LONG history of un-ethical tactics to acquire their customers. They get their spyware installed on your pc. Then, once infected, you'll be plagued with irritating false 'Windows-Like' popups. Their irritating by design. They hope you'll be so frustrated, you're willing to shell out $50 to buy SystemDoctor to remove it.
