I have rarely in the past ended up with any viruses on my 'lil 'ol Dell Dimension 2400, but a week ago Vundo showed up and was supposedly removed (twice) by Windows Defender. Then a week later odd behavior reemerged in the form of pop-up windows (usually for the fake "Antivirus 360") and somewhat slower performance, an inability of Defender to check for new definitions, and a sudden influx of spam e-mails in my inbox, Supposedly Defender found and removed Meredrop and couldn't find anything on follow-up scans yet the odd behavior remains. I then used WIndows Live OneCare online "safety scanner" but it didn't find any viruses or malware either.I considered formatting c: and reinstalling Windows but the disk has gone missing. I also looked into switching to Ubuntu in lieu of the missing Windows disk but it gave me nothing but problems. I need suggestions please!!!! :)

Antivirus 360 is another fake virus remover, poses special challenge to credulous and enthusiastic users when they see its scan results. Some of objects listed among fake threats are real and, moreover, these are system files. Their deletion results in system collapse. Remove Antivirus 360 not just for this misleading tip. The main danger comes from Vundo.trojan, a regular manger of Antivirus 360 installation. This trojan will slow down Windows intentionally to create greater effect and thus increase chances for purchase of the full version of Antivirus 360. Get rid of Antivirus 360 and Vundo.trojan to stave off the danger of hard system disordering caused by their activities.

Antivirus 360 is a rogue anti-spyware program that uses false scan results and aggressive advertising in order to promote itself. This rogue is advertised by the Vundo Trojan and is replacing the Antivirus 2009 rogue program that Vundo has been aggressively advertising. If you are infected with the Vundo Trojan you will see a large amount of pop-ups stating that your computer is infected and that you should install Antivirus 360 in order to protect yourself. If you click on the ad, Antivirus 360 will be downloaded to your computer and you will be prompted to install it.

How to remove Fake Software (pop-ups), Spyware, Trojans and Viruses:

Download, install, update and scan your computer with both Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware, delete what ever they find, if this fails to completely remove the virus/spyware download then update Avast and run a boot scan (click schedule boot-time scan and restart your PC), all the software below is free and safe to use.

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

SuperantiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

To protect your PC in the future you'll need to install anti-virus software and a firewall, id recommend using Avast and Comodo Pro firewall both are very effective and completely free, you should also switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE as its much safer and a lot easier to use.
