Don't register it, it's a fake program, use these and run full scans.

I've been using (free) Avast for about a year I think. No complaints. I also have Malwarebytes (per a post I read on this site actually) as a companion for it. It is not recommended to run more than 1 virus protection program on your computer at a time. I've never seen a negative post re: Avast.

I will not tell you that avast is bad because it's not bad. Those who don't like it aren't forced to use it, so what's the point of arguing?

However, just like almost ANY other antivirus, avast does not detect your "antispyware warnings". Your PC is infected by all evidences.

It's just that having antivirus these days is NOT enough for decent protection.

Therefore before making any changes in your PC security configuration, I strongly advise that you remove the malware asap.

The following guide may be helpful if you prefer working in normal mode, with graphical interface:

Providing you have a-squared anti-malware installed and updated, do the following:

1. Close all the programs, except a-squared anti-malware. Yes, even Internet browser.

2. Open Task Manager. Under the Processes tab, find Explorer.exe and terminate it by clicking End Process. Desktop will disappear. Only a-squared should remain open.

3. Close the task manager as well and run the a-squared anti-malware scan. Wait until it's finished and malware is removed.

4. Press ALT+CTRL+DEL to open the menu, and restart Windows (Shutdown/restart).

Alternatively, you can use the command-line version of a-squared anti-malware. The guide with screenshots is below. Safe Mode is recommended for running command-line security tools.

I use avast pro, and i think its a good anti virus program, but the only downside is it locks any files that has a characteristics of a virus/malware/spyware or falsepositive in short, which means you cant use them or access them. sigh, such as flash disinfector...which is handy for usb's. but well, just choose between avira or avast for free avs....gud luck.

Everyone will have their favorite. I prefer Avira. It has the best detection rate of free programs.

Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus

Be sure to update it. And remember, only one installed anti-virus program, or conflicts may occur leaving you unprotected.

I recommend Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware also. Just don't register it and it will run in free mode.

These can both be installed with no conflicts. Manually scan with both weekly.

Don't! I installed AND BOUGHT that thing and it crashed my computer. Don't get the free ones either, they are a fake, which put viruses on your computer.

What to do is to call a computer company, and they'll give you a disk (e.g: Norton Antivirus) either for free trail, or a fixed price, and then you install it on your computer.

Trust me, it's worth, calling a company.

It is a sin to recommend Symantec to you.

You should use spybot.

Spybot-Search & Destroy (Spybot-S&D) is a popular malware,

spyware and adware removal program, which is free.

http://www.safer-networking.org/

Spybot-S&D can fix problems with system internals (Registry),

Winsock LSPs, ActiveX objects, browser hijackers and BHOs,

and can to some extent protect a user's privacy by deleting

usage tracks like tracking cookies.

Spybot also includes an "Immunize" feature to block the

installation of spyware before it occurs

e.g. by modifying the hosts file.

Another tool included in Spybot is a file shredder,

for the secure deletion of files.

Spybot is not intended to replace anti-virus programs,

but it does detect some common trojans.

Spybot-S&D also recently added an anti-rootkit function.

The Spybot TeaTimer module can be optionally enabled,

providing a level of active, real-time protection

from undesirable registry changes. Spywares and virus cannot

install itself behind your back.

I use Avast and spybot because they don't conflict with one another.

Spyware Terminator. It has real-time protection from both viruses and spyware. It is ClamAV (anti-virus) integrated. ClamAV detects more than 40,000 threats which is outstanding already. Spyware Terminator can scan and remove, immunize, quarantine, update automatically, and much more features. It has several powerful shields that block highly dangerous threats. Also, it comes with the Crawler Toolbar that has a Web Security Guard which repel threats before they enter your computer. This has the caliber any other popular paid (non-free) internet security suites possess. The good part, it is absolutely FREE!!!

To download and for more information, go to www.spywareterminator.com. Enjoy an extremely good protection. Bring your computer to a new generation of safety and privacy. Thanks.

i would like to advise you not to use avast antivirus as it blocks any program that it finds virus infected.so if by chance the boot sector files are infected and avast blocks it you will be in trouble (the computer will not boot)so my advice is that you go on the following link and download the latest trial version which you feel is good for your pc
