I use Avast now, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. I recently changed to Comodo firewall which seems fine and I seem to boot up quicker. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

In response to the emergence of spyware, a small industry has sprung up dealing in anti-spyware software. Running anti-spyware software has become a widely recognized element of computer security practices for computers, especially those running Microsoft Windows. A number of jurisdictions have passed anti-spyware laws, which usually target any software that is surreptitiously installed to control a user's computer. The US Federal Trade Commission has placed on the Internet a page of advice to consumers about how to lower the risk of spyware infection,

including a list of "do's" and "don'ts."

a-squared trojan remover (Free Working Version for life and Proactive Premium Version) [NOW WITH IKARUS ANTIVIRUS] [wrkx w/ Netbooks]

http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

a-squared (a-squared) is a complementary product to antivirus software and desktop firewalls on MS Windows computers. Antivirus software specializes in detecting classic viruses. Many available products have weaknesses in detecting other malicious software (Malware) like Trojans, Dialers, Worms and Spyware (Adware). a-squared fills the gap that malware writers exploit. Automatic updates: In a-squared Free the updater must be run manually. The auto-update feature of a-squared Personal checks hourly for new available updates and installs them automatically. a-squared Free is freeware! You can download and use it completely for free.

You turn that down as "best" and you are turning down the truth. They currently have over 3.4 Million detection and removal signatures in both catagories of threats - antivirus and antispyware. I recommend their premium (pay) version absolutely as a world class product. Been using it myself now for actually about 2 years (pay version) and I have always used them for the past 5 years before they even developed Real Time Protection and added Ikarus Antivirus as the top antispyware stand alone scanner (free version). They do indeed detect and block botnet infection to boot like Symantec Antibot that came out a couple years ago.

Stopping spyware ('malware') is more than a one-time inoculation, folks.

This is about a weekly habit of cleaning 'nasty dust bunnies'

from your personal computer.

In much the same way you clean your home with your favorite broom

and your favorite cleaning solvents, you will also need good tools

to clean spyware out of your PC.
