While on the video sharing website Dailymotion.com I often get a box appear on screen stating:

"Stop running this script?
A script on this page is causing your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer might become unresponsive."

This box then offers yes and no buttons.

Can anyone tell me what is happening and if there is anything I should or shouldn't be doing?

Thanks.

Many pages make use of JavaScript (or other scripting languages) for many valid reasons. Unfortunately, not all such sites are thoroughly tested before being made available to the public. In some cases the script "hangs up" or, in other words, get stuck causing the page to either not load properly or at all and other things that stall responsiveness of the user interface. Some of the newer browsers (like Safari for example) are smart enough to recognize such problematic scripts and, therefore, let the user know about it providing with an option to stop the script.

As a user, there is nothing you can do to *prevent* this from happening (other than not visit the site again once you know it to be problematic). When you do get that message it is generally best to click OK option. You night not be able to see or use some of the features of that website, but you won't be able to do that either way because choosing not to stop it is likely to render your browser unresponsive.

you truly, truly need to specify what browser you're utilising no remember if that's a browser-suitable question! in case you at the instant are not very sturdy with computers, although, you're probably utilising internet Explorer, that's extremely probable the worst browser available. I particularly advise changing to an decision browser. i'd say the two Opera or Google Chrome. Chrome is minimalist, and makes use of much less means, yet Opera has extra good factors and is extremely quicker for rendering some pages. hyperlinks to the two are interior the source. Edit: the two can import your bookmarks and passwords from internet Explorer, too, so which you will no longer could enter all of it lower back!

That is most likely a pop-up that is designed to look like a system message.

These are designed to do things. 1) THey look like a system message in order to get you to click on them and either install mal-ware on your machine. 2) Lure you to another site to get you to purchase a product.

Ensure taht you have enabled your pop-up blocker. Also, set your machine up for private browsing so taht it deletes any temp files that are created while you are browsing. And most importantly. NEVER NEVER NEVER surf the internet on an account that has administrative rights!!
