Question:
Virus won't let me run .exe files (Win7 SP1, 64 Bit)?

I think what I have is a rootkit, or a virus, I have little experience in the matter, but what I came here to ask, is how to get rid of this infection. The Symptoms are that 1. I cannot run ANY .exe files, and almost any other files for that matter (I have tried a few solutions using .dll, etc., but they also failed) 2. My Anti-Virus (AVG Free) no longer works and was unable to detect the infection beforehand, after multiple FULL scans. 3. CCleaner only made the problem worse. 4. EVEN basic windows programs like windows updater and windows firewall no longer work.

So here's everything I can remember happened, culminating to now: about 2 weeks ago I noticed my computer being a little slower than usual (and even a few months ago it started lagging and slowing down in certain pc games, like dirt 2) I found this abnormal and annoying, but thought it was just my computer getting old and that I would have to deal with it. But it kept getting slower and slower, and I started really being confused as to why it was doing this, so I searched up on Youtube: "How to make Windows 7 faster", etc. on youtube and found a few temporary solutions (aswell as more elaborate ones which I decided to pass up as they dealt with directory, etc. and I would rather not mess with that if I can avoid it.) most did almost nothing for my computer's speed, and as I thought I found every solution possible, it was then that I realised that it might either be an issue with my hard drive, or an actual infection (which I doubted highly as I am so careful about only downloading and interacting with trusted sites, etc. online). Seeing as it was now taking about 1-2 minutes for chrome to open, and that it was very hard to stream a video on youtube without lag even after letting it load and putting it on 240p, etc. I turned to facebook, and asked as a status; "Does anyone know how to speed up my pc, it is starting to get abnormally slow :/" to which my friends suggested malware and spyware, but almost all of them agreed on Ccleaner as a solution, one of my friends sending me a link to it. I clicked this link, and downloaded it from the site, trusting it was safe. After running the general cleaner, I thought running the registry cleaner would be a good idea to make sure I was rid of the slowness. after running the integrated registry cleaner once, I scanned for issues once more, and it found a few that apparently weren't fixed in the last pass, so I decided to do it again. after every one of these I created a restore point, and I did this about 3 times before it no longer detected anything. thinking I had solved the problem, I noticed faster speeds on google chrome among other things. I soon discovered though that most of my programs seemed to lack .exe files, not letting me open them (AVG Anti-Virus, chrome and steam still worked at the time). Noticing the problem of the .exe files started when I ran CCleaner, I tried to run it to restore from a save point, but to my surprise, it was unable to open as it said the same message as all the other programs that were unable to run; "The system could not find the environnment option that was entered." Thus I embarked on my journey across google to find how to get rid of what I now think is a virus. 2 days ago my friend said to try malwarebytes, but it was unable to run for the same reason as everything else, and now AVG is also un-runnable. I found all I could to help on google, but none of it worked and no one seemed to have a solution, so yahoo! answers is pretty much my last resort.

I really need this computer for both gaming and my school work, so I need a solution ASAP, please someone help me! And thank you for taking the time to read this. :)

I'm using my phone, so can't provide a possible fix until I return from work this evening, but...if you have Malwarebytes' installed, open its folder in Program Files and look inside the folder named Chameleon. Once there, open the chm file and attempt to run the listed options, starting with number 1.

Hopefully, one of these will enable Malwarebytes' to activate and perform a scan.

Hope this helps.

32-bit viruses received't impact sixty 4-bit abode windows, except it change into written to take advantage both, which does not take position as often as you'll imagine. the theory behind trojans is they act immediately and decisively, and the antivirus with slightly of luck heavily isn't able to p.c. out it in time. then it may "get its foot in the door" to enable WORSE infections in. taking the time to figure between 32 and sixty 4 bit operating platforms will take that part that it needs faraway from it. there is in simple terms no time, realistically speaking. so this would or may not be the case with that "viral infestation" of yours, yet suffice it to assert, there is the type of component as a pretend efficient. be careful you do not enable it in simple terms blanket delete a collection of archives which could be sturdy... this occurs alot with keygens, on condition that they impact the equipment in a fashion it really is amazingly like a virulent disease.

Have you tried renaming the executable you wanted to run? I had a rogue (fake antivirus) that prevented me from installing anti virus tools, i don't know if it will work, but you could most definitely try.
