Turn off your wireless connection everyday before shutting down your computer. And download the important freeware like 'Unplug n' Pray' and others from http://www.grc.com/freepopular.htm , which address many vulnerabilities in Windows. Scan your computer for spyware like Dialers and Downloaders with your Trend Micro anti-spyware. If TrendMicro does not come any anti-spyware, then get this free one and scan your computer:

You must change your wireless password to a harder one to crack immediately. Use more than 6 characters and also use numbers too. Make sure you're implementing wireless encryption WPA. If you run an unencrypted network you are just asking unauthorised people to use your network. Good luck!

The settings you need to change are in your router.

Some things that will help you are disabling the broadcasting of your SSID. After that, change your SSID .

Next, change your wireless security settings to enable WPA and use a passphrase that is long and difficult to guess.

Finally, limit connections to permit only your computers MAC address.

Rembmber, after you change your wireless SSID and security passphrase you need to update the setting in your network cards settings to be able to access again.

you have a router? log in, and turn on the MAC filter and put your laptops MAC address in the allow list...thus blocking any pc not on that list...also, if you havent changed the login of your router since you got it, change the password to the router...

depends on your router...and the brand...try opening your browser and in the address (URL) field type '192.168.1.1' (no http or anything) - that will bring up your home router belkin, netgear, linksys...Usually...a login box would pop up and sometimes all you need is a blank username and a password of 'admin' or 'default' if it isnt that, you can reset your router but you will lose your configuration...so unless you know/learn stuff...to configure your router...but that resets the pw as well...if the 192 adress brought up a login box...
