Thay say vista is more secured than XP and you will get less malware on vista than XP do to vista is more secured .First of all I'm confused what do they mean.

And what is MS doing to deal with malware? What features do they have to deal with malware?

Why does MS not make a antivirus program and anti-spyware program like spybot and adware SE ? They have a firewall and updates.

Malware is almost exclusively user related and not OS related. While there are bugs and exploits, with proper updates more than 95% of incidents can be prevented.

Vista can be considered more secure than XP because of the way it limits user accounts which prevents malware from gaining elevated privileges automatically. That is what User Access Control does.

Edit:

Ok. What user access control does is it lets applications run as limited users even when logged on as Administrator. When you launch a program that needs higher privileges, UAC prompts you and asks if you wish to allow it. This is superior to XP due to the fact that an XP admin account runs applications as admin. If you have an infected file and run it, the malware has full admin rights on the machine and can spread to other accounts as well as protected system folders.

Also, to answer your question regarding anti-spyware, MS does have one. It is called Windows Defender and is enabled by default on Vista systems.

hi rob, windows defender was made for protection and security to your computer files it protects against viruses and spyware and according to consumer reports and pcworld magazines it is the top of the line in protection. but there is a few things that you need to be aware of about windows vista when you upgrade you must have along with vista install is roxio mydvd 9 and microsoft office works 9 and when you go to buy your virus protection stay away from norton or mcafee but avg is perfectlty safe the reason for that is they turn your windows defender off. but if i was considering upgrading from windows xp to windows vista i would recommend that you let a computer repairman do it for you and i would only install vista ultimate it has it's own media vista basic or vista home premium does not so that means that you will need to install windows xp then do a vista overshadow. good luck hope i was helpful to you

Window vista are more advance and therefore harder for hacker to hack but if you receive any download without any antivirus or critical security patches that mean it is doom day and i think that i heard that the smart screen filter in IE8 filter any EXE or PHP file for virus

in addition vista has what they call a fingerprint scanner and some of my friend said that it is faster and secure because they saw the Readyboost and the leak filter so Windows vista is around 50-80% safer.
