A few of my friends told me that they've been getting spam messages from my email address. I'm not sending them. Has my account been hacked? What should I do?

If messages are being sent through your email address without you knowing, then something has managed to get into your email account.
If it's a webmail account (Yahoo, Hotmail etc) then you're best bet is to change your password and security settings/questions, and if the problem persists, contact the email provider.
If your email comes through to your computer via a POP/IMAP email program (such as Outlook or Thunderbird) then you may have a virus on your computer accessing the program. If so, delete your email account from the program and do a virus scan.
Hope this helps.

Your account got compromised. First change your password. Account help.http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/acct/in… for just about anything to do with your account. Then run anti Virus and Anti Spyware. Should be fine then.

determine you have finished secure practices on your computer; antivirus, antimalware and firewall. replace your e mail password. as quickly as a spammer has get admission to on your touch checklist, this is easy for him to spoof the "from" area of an e mail so it appears that evidently like it got here from you.

it means try changing your password ... making sure no other accounts are linked or being forwarded . and see if that stops it ........
