It is, when you downloaded it i'm sure there was a disclaimer somewhere. The thing is...file sharing things like music and movies is illegal but you're allowed to share your own files and things that aren't copyrighted. Because so many files are being shared it's hard to monitor what's being shared. You'll be ok though, you have to download a hell of a lot to be pulled up on something like that. Almost everyone on this planet with the net will have downloaded something illegally. The police only really have time to focus on the top offenders, that and they can't charge so many people. It's also hard in households of many to prove who downloaded what.

Lol, so you're basically safe. Though, if what you want is music i wouldn't suggest limewire. I tried that one... every third movie was porn and twelfth song was an advert for a porn website. I just gave up on them, Azureus and Emule i find are better.

Using Limewire to download public stuff (IKEA catalogs and the like) is not illegal. Fetching your songs from Limewire is. When you download something from Limewire, you automatically share it with others - you are giving away something that isn't yours to give.

So, yes, using Limewire is illegal most of the time.

Various legal online music stores exist where you can download songs for something like $1. You could check out the iTunes store (download the program from itunes.com)

no, limewire is not illegal. but many people use it to download illegal songs. You won't get into trouble for having the program, but you will be breaking the law if you download a copyrighted song. As a rule of thumb, if its popular, you can pretty much bet that its copyrighted.

It's illegal if you don't pay for the songs you download. It's called piracy.

Limewire do offer songs you can pay for, so owning it in itself isn't illegal, but as soon as you download a song you haven't paid for, you are a thief.

Why don't you get iTunes and help up and coming artists to make a successfull career? The reason why a lot of artists fail in the music industry is because of p2p programs like Limewire.

I hope this helps you :)

Kind regards,

Alex

*sigh* unfortunately limewire is illegal, but so many people have it on their computers that it's gone quite unnoticed. If your really concerned about the law, continue buying songs as it supports the artist, but a lot of people do have limewire, and I dont think its that bad to have as songs can be expensive and stuff, but DONT download songs from local artists, they need the support so I buy their songs to support them :)

Yes it is

But dont worry- so many people have it- that law turns a blind eye to it.

I've got limewire AND ares, and loads of my friends have got them too

You'll be fine trust me lol

Sometimes u just gotta live dangerously!

Even though there absolutely no danger what so ever in having limewire

After all...what are they gonna do, arrest like a quarter of the population!

limewire is legal.

what you are planning to do with it is highly illegal.

if you still intend to use it then DON'T.

limewire itself contains many hidden viruses and browser hijackers.

the safest torrent downloader is VUZE.

get limewire and you will regret it.

the program itself is not illegal, but the act of uploading and downloading media files without paying for them is illegal.

TECHNICALLY it is file sharing and that is a loophole in the law. But chances are you will get fined for something so if you feel the need to do it, don't get caught. ;)

Yes it is but only if you get caught.

I read that a young girl in the UK was recently caught and was fined for downloading music from this site.

all downloading sites like that are illegal...

if you are to use it, i would advice not playing the tracks you downlod through itunes because they have a habit of reporting illegally downloaded music and videos.
