XP Antivirus 2008 (XPAntivirus 2008) is a new version of well known fake spyware cleaner. This program have aggressive behaviour and deceptive advertising tactic. XP Antivirus 2008 displays false security warnings and malware detection reports to scare users into buying full version of this useless program. Likewise older versions, XP Antivirus 2008 can install other malware, capture browser's homepage, redirect search results and slow your computer. We recomend to remove XP Antivirus 2008 from your PC.

You've been conned. There is no official thing as XP Antivirus 2008, and it's been recognized my Microsoft as malicious software. In short, it's a virus and/or trojan. So stop doing whatever important stuff you're doing, stop accessing your bank accounts etc. and use this link to get rid of it pronto:

or, if this is easier,

Scroll down to the bottom of that page.

Never ever install software without first confirming it's sources. Hope that helps!

For a decent antivirus system, try Avast! at http://www.avast.com, it's gotten very good reviews, and is free.

Bite the bullet and reformat your hard drive as these things bury themselves deep in the registry, and can be rather insidious.

The safest and most time efficient fix is definately a reformat and reload

Use system restore and restore back to before you got the virus. it's free and included with Windows. It worked for this person (https://answersrip.com/question/index?qid=20080804195133AAogMnY&show=7#profile-info-acj9mB9Paa)

System Restore is the easiest way to get it off.
