Ok.. when ever I am on the computer there is this thing that pops up on my computer from Internet Explorer, it says something like "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and it needs to close... then it goes on to ask me to send an error report. I'll hit the button to send a report but it keeps happening. I just don't want to spend a bunch of money to have someone come and fix my computer. Can anyone help???

You can disable error reporting but thats not your problem, you need to get to the bottom of why IE is crashing

Heres how to disable error reporting

1.

Click on Start and then Control Panel.

2.

Click on the Performance and Maintenance link.

Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, double-click on the System icon and skip to Step 4.

3.

Under the or pick a Control Panel icon section, click on the System link.

4.

In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.

5.

Near the bottom of the window, click on the Error Reporting button.

6.

In the Error Reporting window that appears, choose the Disable error reporting radio button and click the OK button.

Note: I would recommend leaving the But notify me when critical errors occur checkbox checked. You probably still want Windows XP to notify you about the error, just not Microsoft.

7.

Click the OK button on the System Properties window

8.

You can now close the Control Panel or Performance and Maintenance window.

Regarding IE crashing

try this

Start>run>cmd

Type sfc /scannow and hit enter

It will scan you system and check the system files are correct and intact, you may need the Operating System disc, as if files are corrupt or missing it will need your disc to pull them off.

Good Luck

It Happens With Me A Few Times Too!

Does It Have The Option To Press Don't Send? Because That Is What I Usually Do!

It Usually Happens When Something Has Gone Wrong With Your Internet But It Has Sorted It's Self Out So It Just Asks You Whether You Would Like To Let Internet Explorer Know

Jesus , its NOT normal for internet explorer to crash , if it does there IS a problem , sending an error report to microsoft isnt a waste of time , they will look at it to assertain if its caused by any type of bug in the program , if they get enough of the same error they will release a patch.

However its most likely nothing serious its probably an active x control you have that is corrupted or some add on causing the problem , the easiest way to solve the problem is to reinstall IE you can download it from microsoft website

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/ie/getitnow.mspx

the problem with these forums is they are full of halfwits giving out bad advice , you might as well sit in a corner and bang your head against the wall , you'll get more sense out of it

It's related to the defective or corrupted settings of your windows network and/or your browser, so it's having problem to communicate you to the mail server thru internet connection, windows xp automatically creates a log file upon facing an error so FATAL! and ask you if you want to to send that log file to Microsoft so that they can diagnose those BUGS in their software products and keep track to eliminate those BUGS to improve their future versions of products or support you technically about that failure.

Mine, and everyone else's that I know of, has that happen several times a week. It is nothing. Just check the "do not send report" and continue on. It Microsoft's way of trying to find out if you are using an authentic copy of their operating system and puts you on an email list for buying stuff. Don't worry, no big deal. Peace:)

P.S. Now I know the "nerd herds" are going to now try to "school me" on the ways of Microsoft, so in advance, FU.

If you have internet explorer 7, go to the microsoft update website, it's under tools, on mine the button you are looking for in the dropdown is called windows update, look for any updates for IE7, or if an older internet explorer, I would suggest updating to 7, If that doesnt fix it, then I would suggest getting Mozilla Firefox, it's a good web browser and some say it's better than IE (personally I prefer IE)

IE may be having problems with HTML or scripts on some of the pages you surf to. Keep track of which sites cause this problem. You can contact them and let them know there's some bad code in their web pages. If it's someplace like MySpace, where newbs insert a lot of their own code, there's probably nothing you can do but avoid those pages.

Download firefox and use that instead of IE

it's nothing. everyone gets that message at some point. you don't need to send the error, it's just to help microsoft figure out the errors of their system.

its nothing major, just ignore that, or go start- click Run and type MSCONFIG, a menu pop up, and go to service tab, uncheck Windows error reporting service and click apply, then close the menu. this method will stop this.

Just reinstall Windows from your last backup and all will be as it was before this happened. (you did make backups??)
