First of all I need to know if norton internet security will even work to remove Anti-virus 2009. And second, when I try and install it my pc freezes, every time. I don't know why it does this, When I put the disc in I start the install and it says Initializing...please wait. Then my pc freezes. Should I just get it restored again for the 3rd time in less than 2 months or is there another way out.

in safe mode F8 run malwarebytes anti-malware and SUPERAntispyware, and what they find you

delete it manually. then run ccleaner to clean your pc, and mvregclean, to clean registry.

what mvregclean find you remove because the key is there but not the file ,folder or program.

even you reformat and it finds anything remove dont be afraid.

dont forget when you install this software to update them, and do an update every day

then restore untill before you get infected.

Call Norton. They may be able to find the glitches . I have XP too, but I have changed from Norton to AVG. AVG is far superior to Norton, and since I've had it, I have had no more problems. You might have a worm in your computer. There are a couple out there that disables your security unit. Call norton.

Hi Eric,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

It appears that the "Anti-Virus 2009" infection is causing problems with the installation of Norton Internet Security. Symantec does have the ability to remove this infection and we also have a manual removal process that you can follow if it is not removed by doing a "Full System Scan."

The first step you should take is to use the Norton Online Security Scanner. Using Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, click on the link below and follow the instructions.

http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp

When the scan is complete you should then restart your computer and make sure that you do not have any other third-party security software installed which may conflict with the installation of Norton Internet Security.

Next, follow the instructions below to properly remove and reinstall Norton Internet Security.

1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&docid=2001074957656166&nsf=sunset-c2002kb.nsf&view=0

2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

3. Make sure that your internet connection is working properly, and then reinstall Norton Internet Security.

4. When the installation is complete, launch Norton Internet Security and manually run LiveUpdate.

5. When the LiveUpdate process is complete, restart your computer into Windows Safe Mode, launch Norton Internet Security and perform a "Full System Scan."

If Norton Internet Security is unable to remove the infection, please carefully follow the instructions in the following document to manually remove the infection.

Thank you,

Mike

Its better for you to use Spybot Search and Destroy or Malwarebytes because both two can delete most of the malware and spyware. For AntiVirus, I recommend you Avast or Avira. I think you may have read an article before that say avast and avira are better than avg.

Here is the download link :

Spybot Search and Destroy

Malwarebytes Anti Malware

Avast Home Edition

Avira AntiVirus

Hope this will help.
