Question:
How do I get rid of a backdoor trojan?
Scott T

The trojan is backdoor.generic2.YED and it always re-appears in my c drive as b.exe even after removing it with AVG. I have tried heaps of different spyware removers including: Adaware, Spyware doctor, Prev1x, and none seem to work. I have run Hijack this and below is a log of the scan. Thanks for all your suggestions and advice!

I have had great success "curing" infections with the Backdoor Trojan using XoftspySE. They are very quick to address new variants, which this definitely is, so I would at least give their free scan a try to see if it finds the problem. If it does, then you can buy the scanner and it will remove the infection. If it cannot remove it, they will refund your money.

You can download and try XoftspySE here:

Probably best to boot your computer into safe mode (while booting up hit the F8 key a few times) then re run AVG. Also re-run adaware.

Also find that the online scan at www.trendmicro.com (housecall) is great too though may not work in safe mode.

Unfortuanatley your gonna might want to purge the hardchronic and your draw close boot list and re-format the hardchronic to remove it, That virus is self-replicating and has spread to different files and could cover once you try to remove it
