Every now and again I get emails from people who've forwarded me an email, usually of a sick baby's parents asking for people to keep forwarding because they made a deal with some company that will pay them per forwarded email. I have a hard time believing that these are legit. Are these deals with companies even possible? Or is this just a scam meant to clog good wishers' emails? Anyone know the answer?

Just delete it. As you indicated it is just a means to clog email addresses. If you want to see examples of this type of spam, see the webpage below.

none of them are legit they are all pyramid schemes and a waste of time. i can't believe some of the intelligent people i know who forward these to me. i ignore the emails.
