Surely security cameras visible outside a property give a clear indication that there are valuables in the house worth breaking in for. A home security system is more discreet and provides more protection than cameras alone

A security camera lets you know what is going on at your home and can help identifyy people if anyone crosses that line.

A security system is goo as well and can save you on Home Insurance.

Both are great investments though!

Security cameras can be broken easily. Throw a rock at them or something. There goes all your money.

Besides, it's gonna make your place seem like prison. Are you TRYING to spy on your husband's comings and goings? That's kinda harsh.

A home secuirty system is more advanced anyway, in that it can call police or even fire dept. if there are problems. Go with the system.

Funny answers here. We installed two security cameras in out of reach hard to throw rocks at (and hit) areas so I can get a good look at the vehicle or a person's face as they enter.

Better than cameras - I have 2 big dogs which I routinely allow out to walk in front of my house. Talk about a deterrent - everyone knows they live here and most of the so called bad asses in the neighborhood never walk on our side of the street. Good protection.

go to Brinks.com...they do home security. Will be the best thing you ever did ...i promise. You can put in a little security, or make your home like a fortress. A technician can come to your home, tell him how "secure" you want it, and he will advise you of your best options. It is absolute piece of mind.

The security cameras, unless they are well hidden can not only be seen but can be broken. The security system would be the better choice for you. Also many security systems also have cameras included if you select this option so you would have the cameras and if they are broken then you still have a security system to rely on. However, a good security system will include a stand alone alarm as if the phone wires are cut it will not send to the monitoring company but the alarm will still sound if there is an intrusion. Here is a link(s) for such systems.

These are the top 2. This way you have the cameras and he has the security system. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

First of all - Why do you wish to get a security system? Has your house been broke into, or violated in some way?

Or do you live near a "bad" neighborhood?

Well, let me be honest. If I wanted to break into your house, I wouldn't give a **** about security system, or security cameras. It takes security systems 5 mins, at the min. to react to a break in, and it takes the cops 10 more on top of that to react. (They gotta make sure it wasn't a accident and such)

So I have 10-15mins (min) to snatch a grab and make a escape...

I like my chances. Even with the alarm blaring.

The camera...haha! I don't suggest it at all. No matter what, they wont do a damn thing, it'll just make you paranoid. It ain't gonna stop no one. And it wont help "find" anyone neither.

Get the alarm system, but if you really wanna make your house "safe"

Change your locks for all your doors outside - Theirs also a plate you can by that keeps the door steady even when being kicked. Change the window locks too. You can also by "storm" windows, with stronger glass, so its not easily broken into.

Your better off make your house "sound" then spending money on some damn system. Because if I can't kick the door down in the first go, I'm not wasting my time. The next house over might be a better score anyways.

Installing Security Cameras Outside Home
Impossible!

eh my dad bough security from this weird place, but if u want pros and cons here they are:

Cameras:

+Capture and record

+Good for evidence in a court of law

+Can fit almost anywhere depending on the model

-Easy to break depending on the model

-Most don't work in the dark (big point)

-Suck if recorded to a comp/+AV recording for TV works better

full on Security System:

+Alarm, camera, and Electric fence (pick any or all)

+Again, good for court of law

+Sensor triggers alarms with movement (not slightest)

+If u put electric fence, stupid **** burglars will probably get a a 10,000 volt shock

-Price tag comes in high

-Not the good when your dealing with professional burglars. lol duhh :P

-If not left on, it would be rather hard (if the service is shittt3h!) to incriminate household robbers through advertisements. (claiming on house checks; disease, maintenance, etc...)

that's all i can think of.
