I am inbetween using a user-friendly distro like linux mint and a penetration/command line like distro, like backtrack. I tried blackbuntu and i liked it alot, even though i don't like regular ubuntu, but it wasnt stable at all and crashed alot. SO what would be a good recomendation for my preferance and not OpenSuse, i already tried it.
Six answers:
Linux Mint 11

Nathan has a good suggestion with Fusion Linux which is Fedora based. I thoroughly recommend taking a look at Linux Mint Debian Edition which is Linux Mint with Ubuntu taken out and replaced with Debian

Linux Mint Debian Edition Download

http://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=66

Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide

http://linuxmint.com/rel_debian.php

You download the ISO. image of Linux Mint Debian Edition then you need to create a Bootable LiveDVD for installation

Linux Mint Debian Edition can also be run straight from the LiveCD from Boot without touching your Hard Drive

If you don't like Ubuntu and OpenSuse, give up and get back to Windows. ANY Linux distro can be used totally from the terminal screen without XWindows.

use ubuntu which is well supported and stable.

download or request free cd here

http://www.ubuntu.com/

ubuntu 10.04, do not get beta version.

in my experience, i use ubuntu on HP or HP/Compaq laptops with all intel inside.

it works well out of the box.

HP fully support linux, expect it to be a perfect laptop.

no overheating, charging is perfect, hibernation, wi-fi touchpad, usb port,, just about every hardware works, games music, no problem, torrents etc etc..

after installation, you will go to system>administration>update manager

wait for update to finish.

using ubuntu or any other distro without downloading/updating right after installation

will really give you problem because application is not yet fully installed. files are incomplete. so you need to update it.

on your linux now, try to reinstall the cd or just update it manually.

you might like Fusion Linux - it is a Fedora based distro with Gnome desktop and mintMenu from Linux MInt.

http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=fusion

you may even consider Wolfer Linux

http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20110228#feature

http://wolferlinux.tk/sites/

you will have to set their page to your language by using the selector on the right side.
