I don't mean do they up date the definitions, but the actual "antivirus" model/engine itself?

Just wondering if the Nortons and the McAfees unecessarily update every year, to sell more product. like is there really that much of a significant difference between Norton 2008 product and 2010 product, as long as you keep your virus defs and worm defs up to date

AGIAN, basically wondering if the Nortons and McAfees Create a new product every year just to sell more product I notice they tend to use 2008, 2009, 2010 wheras other companies might do 2.0 or 4.0 giving me the sense that they don't come out with a NEW product each year

I have been using AVG Free for over two years, I think I am on the third version update. I am absolutely certain it is at least the second.

I don't think the freeware software punches a clock like the pay to play type. I think they do upgrades etc as the situation warrants, not when your license runs out and they want more money.

AVG McAfee and Norton fairly fairly suck (up factors) Avast misses alot AntiVir is functional specially situations on your final question: the isn't ONE good product that covers all of that. you may desire to accomplish a sprint study on the two those suggestions: HIPS: host-based intrusion-prevention equipment IDS: Intrusion Detection equipment Please, please do no longer run living house windows in an administrator's context!!

They give you a key for a year but you can just update the software every year with a new key. It will be the latest software
