Just use plain Windows OS patched with latest security & fixes from Microsoft. Always download software from well known sites and use anti-phishing add-ons in web browser

No need to install anti malware, spyware, adware and virus protection software since it consumes unnecessary resources in background

I just let my Mcafee subscription expire in order to save 20 bucks a year. I researched this question pretty thoroughly and found that windows defender is perfectly suited to provide virus and spyware protection in Windows 10. There are other free antivirus programs available which may include added functionality but Defender uses little resources and is already installed on your system.

If you have windows 8, windows 8.1 or windows 10, there is a built in antivirus called Windows Defender.

If you have windows 7 or windows Vista, use Microsoft Security Essentials, download it from the link below.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/security-essentials-download

If you want a third party antivirus (whether you use windows 8 or later, or windows 7 or earlier), you can download and install 360 Total Security Essential.

I also strongly recommend that you download and install Malwarebytes Antiexploit for additional protection, since exploits are still one of the weakness of an antivirus software.

There is no best antimalware, or antivirus software. Every antivirus and antimalware software has positive and negative sides.

Free antivirus: usually does only scan Malwarebites is good enough.

I use CCleaner, Malwarebites, and Adwcleaner. free download.

P.S always download and install latest Windows updates.

Change to linux you can have it for free, it does everything most do on MS-W, with security built into the system.

Depending on which Windows OS you have installed, the Windows products are very good. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I also use malwarebytes ( at .org ) and SUPERAntiSpyware. All these are free and work well together.
