A Trojan is a file that disguises itself as a file that seems desirable, allowing itself to be presented before executing a file/command/installer/etc. However, when you allow it to perform said command, it allows unauthorized access to your PC.

It can perform actions such as installing toolbars, allowing excessive and random pop-ups, allows for key-logging and many other malicious tasks.

Your best bet is to restore you computer to the nearest date before you were infected because although the Trojan itself may have been removed, it is possible the Trojan has changed or installed items that are not viruses in and of themselves.

I.E. When I was infected with a Trojan, it hacked my web browser and allowed my searches created in the address bar to be searched for via ask.com rather than google.

Trojan horses are designed to allow a hacker remote access to a target computer system. Once a Trojan horse has been installed on a target computer system it is possible for a hacker to access it remotely and perform operations. The operations that a hacker can perform are limited by user privileges on the target computer system and the design of the Trojan horse itself.

Operations which could be performed by a hacker on a target computer system include:

Use of the machine as part of a Botnet (e.g. to perform Distributed Denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks)

Data Theft (e.g. passwords, security codes, credit card information)

Installation of software (including other malware)

Downloading of files

Uploading of files

Deletion of files

Modification of files

Keystroke logging

Viewing the user's screen
