Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The only way to reset your windows password 100% safe is to use a software called Reset Password Pro.

The software allows you to create a boot-disk, that can be made on a CD/DVD or USB stick. The boot-disk can then be inserted into any locked machine, and it's a simple case of pressing reset. Here is their official site: http://www.resetwindowspass.com

(I'm assuming that yo have windows) . while restarting hold down F8 and boot in safe mode. Enter the admin account. Goto my computer then documents and settings, then your username and then right click, you want to then click sharing and security, then you want to goto security and then you can do all sorts of things, from transfering access to deleting a password and other things.

You can download a hacking tool from the web. I was able to get one before but I was afraid to try in on my office computer.

RE: Unlock A Computer

Search XP KB (knowledge base).

I assume you also have the original install disk from your Aunt as well.

RE: Unlock A Computer

Following is from XP Help and Support Center..

Recovering a user's passwordIf you forget your user account password, check

your password hint. (Your password hint is located on the Welcome screen

beside the password prompt.)

If you have a password reset disk, you can use it to create a new password

for your account. Your personalized computer settings will be retained. For

more information about using the Forgotten Password Wizard to create a

password reset disk, click Related Topics.

If your password hint does not help you remember your password and you did

not create a password reset disk, you will need to have someone with a

computer administrator account create a new password for you. For security

reasons, a computer administrator cannot recover your password if you forget

it; he or she can only create a new one for you.

Notes

A user with a computer administrator account can create and change

passwords, and create password hints for all users. Users with limited

accounts can only create and change their own passwords, and create their ow

n

password hints.

If a user with a computer administrator account changes the password for

another user, that user will lose all personal certificates, and stored

passwords for Web sites or network resources.

---------------------------------------

I don't know if booting with the install disk will get you anywhere.

You maybe able to access the data on the harddrive by removing it and

installing it as a slave in another computer. Copy the data then return the

hard drive to the original PC, use the install disk to reinstall WinXP (don'

t

forget the key code) and reformat the drive which erases all data. When

install is complete return drive to PC that has data on it and reconnect as

a

slave. Then recopy data back to original drive and reinstall into original

PC.

I maybe out to lunch, but other than your own thoughts you don't have much

else to go on.
