Clean your Registry can make your computer faster

http://registry-computer-cleaner.com/

Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software's, install new devices,

download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system.

This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched.

Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.

The Windows registry is a database repository of information about a computer's configuration. Installing and uninstalling software will make your registry a mess, leading to decreased PC performance and causing computer crashes and freeze.

The registry size keeps growing when you use Windows. When the registry becomes very large, your computer's performance will be decayed and unstable. Some computer users even spend a lot of time trying to go through the registry and edit it manually. Not only can this be a daunting task, it is also a risky one.

http://pc-software-store.info/registry-easy.html

Registry Easy™ uses a high-performance detection algorithm that will quickly identify missing and invalid references in your Windows registry. With a few easy steps Registry Easy™ will scan your entire Windows registry for any invalid or obsolete entries and provide a list of the registry errors found. After that you can choose to clean list items with selection or automatically repair them all.

For your convenience and protection, Registry Easy also provides a backup mechanism for any repaired files so that you can easily recover any changes if required.

Turning Off Programs Already Running

Step1

Tell your computer what to do by pressing "Control Alt Delete" at the same time. When the autopilot is off and you're at the controls, you can also disable programs that are slowing down your computer.

Step2

Click the "Processes" tab.

Step3

View every program that is running on your computer at that time. You can also sort them by how much memory they are using, thereby finding the programs that are slowing down your computer overall. The third step is to look through the programs and identify the sluggish culprits.

Step4

Click the offending program or process, then click "End Process." You just sent it to an early grave.

Step5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 as needed to increase performance.

Start-up Programs

Click run and type in msconfig. Click on startup items and uncheck any useless start up programs.

Or use some tools not free:

You can use a registry cleaner to clean up your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there may be some registry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Registry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically!

There are some comparison and review of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

YES. Go to download.com & download C Cleaner than run it occassionally. While there download Auslogics disc defragmenter & than turn off your windows defrag. Auslogics is much faster. Run this occassionally. Also run your windows disc clean up occassionally as well as your browser history cleanup tool.If your anti virus does not include anti spyware download Malwarebytes & Superantispyware from download.com & run these occassionally. In addition you might benefit by removing software you do not use with add & remove programs in your control panel. Than if you shut down & blow away the dust from inside your case with compressed air about twice a year you are off to a good start.

ok, you stated your laptop is a year old and you did not state what model, what is the ram amount, drive space, operating system. with this information you can get a better answer. lets assume you have windows vista basic or above. vista basic use at least 1gb of ram which is the min to use for this operating system. vista takes up a lot of hard drive space and memory. lets say you have 512mb memory installed. 1) install more ram=memory. go ahead and install the max what ever your model takes. would not hurt. also , if your hard drive is less than 18% space avail than you have to delete some things off your hard drive. like stated in previous responses, clean up your drive, defrag, use disk cleaner, use ccleaner, its great. i use it. if you want to keep ,songs, ect on the hard drive. upgrade to a bigger hard drive or use and external usb drive they are quite cheap on ebay now.

Yes. Take all the crapware off it, and stop installing more(Your chat programs all come with it, that yahoo toolbar, the google bar, etc they all take up system resources and slow down your PC).

Follow these steps:

---Remove Yahoo messenger, AOL Messenger, any upgraded version of MSN Messager, IMVU, and all your installed online chat programs. They all run in resident memory when your pc boots, and that kills performance. In their place, use ebuddy (An online client that signs into all of them at once without installing anything on your machine), or download Pidgin(It's a piece of software, but it's one that does EVERYTHING without taking as much of your system's memory).

Additionally run a defrag on each of your hard drives. Twice.

---A lot of programs will automatically start up with your computer when it boots. These can slow down your system considerably. To choose which programs start with your computer go to Start>Run and type msconfig then go to the startup tab. Uncheck the boxes of the programs that you don’t want to have starting up with your computer.

Also go to Start>All Programs>Startup and delete any shortcuts out of this menu for the programs that you don’t want starting with your computer. Adobe usually puts some startup shortcuts in this folder.

You should be able to kill most of the following services:

Error Reporting Service

When an application encounters a problem and closes, this is the service that generates the little box that asks you if you want to send an error report. This service is not necessary.

Fast User Switching

Manages applications that require assistance in multiple user environments. If you have no urgency to stay logged on to your current account when you switch users or if you only have one user account on your computer you may disable this service.

Help and Support

This service is responsible for the Help and SupportCenter. This service is also responsible for the annoying little pop-ups that appear in the lower left of the screen. If you rely on the Help and Support center do not disable this service.

IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service

This service handles windows CD burning with the built-in windows CD burning software. Disable this service if you use a 3rd party software package for burning or if you do not have a burner.

Remote Desktop Session Manager

Controls the Microsoft remote assistance. If you call for remote desktop support from Microsoft or other users this is the service that handles the connection. Unless you rely on others remote desktoping your computer you may disable this service.

Remote Registry

This service is along the same lines as the Remote Desktop

Session Manager, but it allows others from remote locations to only modify your registry. Unless you rely on remote registry editing you may disable this service.

Task Scheduler

The task scheduler controls the scheduling of automated tasks by the user. It allows you to configure programs to run on a timely basis (every day, every other day, every week, etc.). If you don’t use it, disable it.

Secondary Login

Allows different processes to start for different users when the user logs on. This service is pointless if you only have one user account on your computer.

Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

Controls the windows firewall and internet connection sharing (ICS). If you don’t use the windows firewall or ICS you can disable this service.

Print Spooler

The print spooler loads print jobs into system memory to provide faster printing. You can disable this if you don’t have a printer or don’t care about print jobs starting slightly faster.

System Restore Service

Sets system restore points. If you don’t use system restore you can disable this service. You may also disable system restore by going to Control Panel>System>System Restore and checking the box labeled Turn off system restore on all drives. System restore uses up significant disk space.

Telephony

If you don’t have a modem or don’t make telephone calls with you computer then you can disable this service.

Distributed Link Tracking Client

Maintains links between NTFS files within a computer or across computers in a network domain.

Windows Time

Synchronizes the windows clock between networked computers so they all read the same time.

SecurityCenter

This is that annoying little program that installs with service pack 2 that tells you that you don’t have antivirus protection, a firewall or if you don’t have automatic updates turned on. It doesn’t really help out at all.

Wireless Zero Configuration

This service automatically configures 802.11 devices. If you don’t have any wireless networking devices that fall under the 802.11 specification then you can disable this service.

---Disk cleanup removes temporary files and other unnecessary files the are just wasting disk space. To access the disk

In control panel, you will find maintenance tools to clean up junk

files on your hard disk, and also to defragment your disk. These

tools are already a part of windows, and will cost you nothing.

Also, restart your computer at least once a week or so, to defrag

your ram.

First, run msdefrag and uncheck all non-Microsoft system services. Then make sure your hard drive is reasonably defragged.

Or there's always Linux ;)
