I have a server and it's a Windows 2000 Adv. Server. I use my own SSL Certificate Authority service (not public service but a windows component service) since it is so expensive and I make no money at all (I don't even make money off of advertising).

So I will get to the point. I tried to have a secure server on two websites but when I tried to access the second website it went to the main site instead of the one I wanted it to goto. I even tried to put my subdomain on the DNS name for my SSL Certificate but still failed.

Is it possible to have SSL certificates on two websites seperatly like sub.mydomain.net and mydomain.net.

and How can I do that?

Yes you can create multiple secure websites on an singe server. But both websites need a different ip number!

mydomain.net. 10.0.0.1

sub.mydomain.net. 10.0.0.2

The SSL protocol is only working on HTTP 1.0 and not the HTTP 1.1 protocol. Within the HTTP 1.1 protocol you can send the hostname of the server in the header.

You can not do the same SSL for 2 separate websites - you can get a wildcard certificate that will work with subdomains
