Mcafee has really improved, it actually scored higher in the last AV comparatives tests then it ever scored before. It stills uses a lot of ram. But it you are not a high risk user, it will work fine. Most these guys. In fact there is not much difference between most the anti-virus software. You will get good protection from Norton, Avast, Avira, Nod32, Bit defender, It not really about the anti-viurs programs you have it's about knowing how to protect your computer. Noobs and users who don't know better think it's all about which anti-virus software you use.
Get Mcafee for free then get Returnil the free version and you will be better protected that any one you know and almost any of the users who think they know how to protect a computer.
Norton Internet Security 2009 is far better than McAfee, hands down. It's much lighter than previous versions, using only 7MB of system RAM. McAfee uses several times that and the protection still lags behind. Stick with Norton, you'll be much happier.

Most computer professionals consider McAfee to be a virus all in itself. I would use either AVG if you want free antivirus, or use ESET NOD32 if you want commercial antivirus.
