Yes. Even if you know my IP you can't find me. It is not my street address. Besides, I reset my IP regularly and I have effective hardware and software firewalls.



Some people have become overly concerned (in my opinion) about IP addresses. It is the latest "boogie man" scary thing of the online world.



The only way you can find out who I am from my Dynamic IP is thru legal action.



People with static IPs need to be more concerned, but few have them.

No: Hiding your IP is important for *privacy* not for security. A good firewall/router and a secure browser and operating system is important for security. You can't ever hide your IP - the point is that if someone types ping IP into a command prompt then it's still going to ping your computer whether or not you are using software to 'hide' your IP from websites.

If you are browsing dubious websites you are most likely to get hit by browser exploits. Masking your IP from those websites won't matter because all the code is still forwarded back to your computer so they can still exploit your browser.



If you are getting hit by virusware that's scanning IP ranges and trying to exploit open services then you are no safer if you use IP masking software because your computer (or router) will still receive packets sent to your real IP. And if your computer is running insecure services allowing people to hijack your machine then you have bigger problems than your IP being exposed.



So in conclusion hiding your IP has pretty much zero bearing on security.



Now please could we stop with all the silly IP questions.

Its not recommended to hide ur ip.U only do so when u need to download from a free site which restricts user by download limit.

otherwise,hiding ur ip may result serious PACKET DATA Transfer error.
