Question:
Have I gotten rid of Antispyware Soft?
2010-05-05 23:42:24 UTC
I recently got the antispyware soft virus so I proceeded to google some solutions. I came across some page which told me open task manager and end a process containing tssd.exe so I did that.

After that, I got lost in the explanations since I'm quite a computer newbie so I played around and went to %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\

There I found an empty, suspicious folder called txbjqmmlkt which was created at the time I got the virus so I deleted it.

Now antispyware soft no longer appears or bothers me when I open my computer but is it really gone, and how can I make sure it won't do any furthur harm to my computer?

I've got the latest version of Avast which couldn't delete the virus initially by the way. Help and step by step instructions would be appreciated, thanks.

You probably have remnants of that paticular Fake AV product still on the computer...and btw...whether you have Avast or any other top dog super duper AV product...they can't protect you against these types of programs...because they are not infections....

I JUST had the same problem and I'm wondering if I got rid of the virus myself. What I did to remove the virus and COULD possibly help you as well is to system restore. I did system restore since I wasn't able to during the virus incident. So what you can TRY to do is, system restore. Restart computer, press F8, start under SAFE MODE (optional), then system restore, choose a day BEFORE antispyware software and that COULD solve your problem. You can use this method in case Antispy ware soft does return.
