is there any way that I can create a batch file to reset a password on my laptop???

I was slightly drunk and changed it and now I cant remember the password ¬_¬

I also have not created a password reset disk or anything like that...

I also can not wipe the laptop as there are some very important files that CAN NOT be deleted...

If there is a way for me to be able to access these and transfer them that would be brilliant.

Many thanks

well pending on what password you are talking about, you dont need a batch file, just get "chntpw" it can be used to erase and/or change the windows password, if thats what you are talking about, if there is any help you need with another password just ask.

A batch file won't do anything for you. That would imply microsoft was stupid enough to make a password-resetting command for the command line that didn't bother to authenticate the user first. They're not quite THAT dumb.

First try booting into safe mode, sometimes in safe mode there will appear an extra Admin account you can log into password-free and use it to change the password on your normal account.

If that doesn't work, then boot your computer using a live linux CD such as ubuntu and use it to copy your files over to a thumb drive.

if its windows xp go to the logon screen and hold ctrl+alt and press delete twice. it should take you to an alternate login screen. type administrator for the user name and press enter as there is no password. as for a batch file to do this, there is a safety net you can do to prevent this again....

however it is too risky for me to put on here as i do not want someone doing it wrong and potentially ruining their computer. so message me if you want to know the login safety net.

I'm not sure, but there are other forums that can help

www.tek-tips.com

They discuss different type of scripting languages. Perhaps you can use batch file, perhaps vbs.

Just post a message in their forums.
